How to make your own charcoal soldering blocks in your wood stove, smoker or fireplace. These reflect heat back to the work. The charcoal burns away oxygen, creating a “reducing” atmosphere and giving a cleaner solder. You can carve channels or wells into this for holding objects to be soldered or melted. These blocks are also used to melt small quantities of gold and silver to create granulation balls and ingots.
